Too Much Fun-Girl's Camp 2010

For the first time in more years than I care to think about, I had the opportunity to attend Girl's Camp last week. I am so grateful I was able to run away from home for a little while and that Dave's schedule worked out that he was able to be home for almost every day that I was gone. Ty and Abbie took on the responsibility of Wednesday with the exception of a few hours break around lunchtime, and the week went off without a hitch. I know that it is only because of a highly capable and awesome husband and father that I could go for five days without worrying (okay, mostly not worrying) and also come home to a clean house. Thanks babe!

One of our sweet 17 year old young women has been battling cancer and she has been on all of our minds. She has been in our home to babysit and so Ty and Abbie have also been closely touched by her struggles as well. One of the genius women I work with had this incredible idea to make a life-size Risa to come to camp, since the real Risa couldn't be there. It was amazing to watch how everyone took care of her and carried her around all week. It wasn't just a show of how much we missed having her there, but a show of how everyone carries her in their hearts and prayers. It was a truly unifying experience.
The awesome YW I get to work with :)
Risa in the middle.
Risa joining our circle (long story. . .some of you may recall "The Circle of Friendship" song, I know we sang it a lot as youth. We taught it to the YW, but we taught it with the tune of a hymn that matched the meter as opposed to the 70's music it is written with)
This is the night the girls freaked themselves out that one of the groups was coming to prank them. They got so worked up that they came running and invaded our beds (I had two on mine). It was the most hilarious thing (and it wasn't even the night the mouse got in the cabin).

I love girls' camp...wish I could have gone with our ward this year! I strongly hinted to them but they didn't take me up on the offer.
