I'm in time-out right now. If I was playing by all the rules, I wouldn't have my computer with me, but since this is a self-inflicted time out, I'm making an exception. I need a moment to vent, so I brought it with me. Not necessarily to vent, just to be alone without any more of anyone er. . .thing. Ahhh. It feels good.
Earlier today, I thought about blogging about all of the odd things that have happened in the last 24 to 36 hours. After this evening, I've obviously deteriorated to the point I need to vent. Maybe I'll go backwards. . .
9:03 p.m. Closed my bedroom door to begin time out. Listening to Spencer cry because I scared him with my frustrated growl (which was WAY better than the spanking I wanted to inflict, just sayin')
8:15 - 9:02 p.m. Attempted to get 'the boys' (J & S) through the bedtime stuff so that I can gather five of us for prayer. Spence is seriously on one. A happy one, but that means teasing. I've never had a four (okay, almost five) year old that was such a teaser. At bedtime, when everyone else is grumpy, it does not go well. He knows how to push all of our buttons. Every. single. button. every. single. person. But all in good fun, right? Ty hasn't quite forgiven me for my stance on a particular subject (read on), Abbie is in loads of pain and she's really tired of it* and therefore monumentally emotional and dramatic, Justin just wants to be left alone to use his imagination (this is always where Spencer has a "fat chance" attitude), and I am so done with the evening I just want everyone in bed. NOW.
7:45ish Tyler doesn't understand why I can't take him right now to go buy a video game he wants to buy (second asking in under 30 minutes). I think my answer at that point was a bit more stern than he was expecting. Don't ask Mom a ridiculous question twice in 30 minutes. She'll give you more answer than you wanted louder than you ever wanted it.
7:23 In the car, making a spot available for the next poor guy whose been circling. . .Ty asks if I can take him to buy his video game. I'm not even going to go into why NOT. Read on: (although it was a very quiet car ride home after that).
6:45-7:22 Head to pick Ty up from his bball game. I'm pretty sure this parking lot holds 200 cars and there's not a free spot among them. Circle for 10 minutes, and find a great one, yay! Make it to the end of the game. Ty's fouled out (first time ever), he made 12 points and the final score was 101 to 69. I saw our team make four 3-pointers in the six minutes I was there.
6:15-6:45 Arrive back home, say goodbye to Dave (night SEVEN in a row-I'm so over it, but trust me, so is he!), throw tacos together for the three at home, snarf one down myself and head back out the door.
5:25-6:15 Drop Ty off at bball game. 4.5 miles away. I didn't even get out of the car. I can't believe how long it takes to get some places in this town. I hate 6pm games because the traffic is insane. We have to get past Nike and they are just ending their workday and it is SO awful!!!
okay, I'm done. Gee, thanks for listening, I feel so much better.
The two biggest oddities in the last day:
-showing up at Ty's game last night and seeing his basketball coach there. This is the man who had an emergent double bypass two weeks ago. NOT EVEN KIDDING. Yes, he looked about that good too.
-getting a phone call from an insurance company verifying the accident my husband was in on the 17th. In San Francisco. Seeing as how he was asleep in bed all day and the information they gave me included our correct phone number and correct address, it seems we may be doing a little investigation in identity theft. Great. I'm sure there will be more news on that front in the coming days. . .
Post Script: 9:17 Ty enters the room and meekly apologizes for his behavior. After waiting a suitable few seconds, asks for permission to download another song.
9:18 Abbie enters and apologizes for her behavior-I didn't really go into that behavior. It got lost somewhere in the 8:15 hour when I was in her room trying to calm down the drama and had to go take care of the screaming coming from the boy's room.
Yes, I did leave my time out long enough to comfort Spencer as he was bawling "I'm sorry" over and over. He promptly fell right to sleep.
It's a good thing I get to try to be the ever patient mother again tomorrow, because I kind of failed it today :)
*Abbie injured her heel 6 weeks ago. Some days she can hardly walk on it. Doc ordered x-rays (we seriously have had more x-rays in our family the past 6 months than in our entire married life). She has inflammation between the bony plates in her heel. He recommended she not do anything such as ballet, gym, basketball, soccer (you get the picture), for two weeks. It's been two weeks. Ugh. When it feels good, she gets too active. I mean, this is Abbie we are talking about. She felt good yesterday, so she played kickball in gym (It looked like fun Mom!). Today we are in misery.

I only have 1 and feel like I need Mommy-time-outs on a regular basis! Don't know how you juggle 4, but I can tell you, you are an amazing Mom! I could learn a lot from you, and yes it is great that tomorrow is a new day, fresh start! Miss you guys!
Oh, my goodness! I don't know how you do it all, but you DO do it all and shouldn't beat yourself up for not handling things perfectly every minute...You're a great mom...hang in there!
